How good are you at saying no? Do you know what your boundaries are? Do you feel heard and understood by the people around you? Do you feel comfortable in expressing your opinion and needs?
Boundary setting and Assertive Communication go hand in hand.
It is not used to get your way, but is used to have the best chance of being heard, understood and respected.
Assertive Communication is important in almost any setting. When you are able to express yourself clearly, you are more able to help others identify your needs, taking a lot of 'guess work' out of relationships and interactions. It will also help you to feel less 'pushed around' or 'stepped over'. It will help you feel more in control of yourself, your body, your mental space, your time, your physical space and even your emotions.
We have several methods of teaching these skills. Give us a call to learn more (your first foray into assertiveness!)
"The duty we owe ourselves is greater than that we owe others." ― Louisa May Alcott
